One of S.W.COLE’s biggest strengths is our people. We are a team, working throughout New England from offices in five states. We work together every day to solve problems for our clients. We share knowledge and resources daily. We respect each other and are always thinking of ways to be a better team, for ourselves and for our clients.

S.W.COLE is a governed by a group of long-term employee-owners who serve on our Board of Directors. Our corporate services team includes specialists in accounting, human resources, IT, marketing, and safety. Local offices are led by experienced office managers and specialists in construction services and geotechnical engineering.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

A native of Winthrop, Maine, Bob has been integral to the growth of S.W.COLE. After receiving a B.S. in construction management technology from the University of Maine, Bob joined the firm in 1990 as an Engineering Technician and helped launch our office in Gray, Maine. The firm later promoted him to the position of Geotechnical Engineer, and in 1999, after S.W.COLE acquired the former operation of Morrison Geotechnical Engineering, Bob moved to our new Winslow, Maine office and oversaw its eventual move to Augusta, and then Sidney, Maine. He particularly enjoys working on projects involving soft compressible soils.

After serving as the firm’s executive vice president for several years, Bob was named President and CEO in 2014. Bob received his master’s degree in geotechnical engineering in 2004, and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Maine and New Hampshire.  He also serves as Chairman of the S.W.COLE Board of Directors. His duties at S.W.COLE include project management and technical review, office management, strategy and direction, client and employee engagement and financial monitoring. Meeting with clients and employees is his favorite part of the job, and he is passionate about driving S.W.COLE’s team culture.

Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer
Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Chad, who hails from Millinocket, Maine, joined the Maine operations of S.W.COLE shortly after graduating from the University of Maine at Orono. In 2001, Chad transferred to our Somersworth, New Hampshire office and began assisting with the process of the growth of S.W.COLE in the other New England states. In addition to significant experience providing geotechnical evaluation, Chad also has a large amount of experience managing varied projects and clientele including numerous large scale commercial and institutional developments, electrical transmission lines and water / wastewater projects. Chad is a Professional Engineer licensed in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Chad was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the firm in 2014 and is a member of the Board of Directors. His responsibilities include overseeing operational functions of the firm and maintaining project and client management and interaction.

Chief Financial Officer

Jason has been part of the S.W.COLE team for over 25 years. He received a bachelor’s in English from the University of Maine before entering the Maine Business School at the University of Maine. There he earned both a certificate of Post Graduate Studies in Business Administration and his Masters of Business Administration. As the firm’s CFO, Jason is responsible for the firm’s treasury functions as well as accounting, audit and project financial management. In addition, Jason is involved in many of the firm’s administrative functions including corporate filings, contract administration, risk management and asset management. Jason also serves on the firm’s Investment Committee and on the Board of Directors.

Vice President of Human Resources & Marketing

Dave was born in Bangor, Maine and grew up in Southern New England and upstate New York. He joined S.W.COLE in 1986 as a Laboratory Technician and, since then, has held the positions of Engineering Technician, and Environmental Scientist. Dave, who received a B.S. in environmental technology from Cornell University, has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and human resources. He is the firm’s Vice President of Human Resources and Marketing and on the Board of Directors.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Tim earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington with post-graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering. He has over three decades of geotechnical engineering experience working for consultants in New England and the Pacific Northwest. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. He was named Vice President of Geotechnical Services for S.W.COLE in 2014 and serves on the S.W.COLE Board of Directors.  Tim is Past-President and National Director of ACEC of Maine, volunteering 9 years of service for ACEC.

Mike has been a Geotechnical Engineer since 2007, with prior experience in Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon and Washington. He joined S.W. Cole Engineering, Inc. in 2010 and was promoted to Senior Geotechnical Engineer in 2018 and Principal Geotechnical Engineer in 2024. He took on the role of Sidney, Maine Office Manager in 2017. Mike is a Professional Engineer licensed in Maine, New Hampshire and Oregon.

She is a Professional Engineer licensed in Colorado, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Courtney graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program in 2024.

Nate joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. as an Engineering Assistant in 2010. After receiving his Professional Engineer license for Maine in May 2015, Nate was promoted to Geotechnical Engineer. In 2019, Nate took on the role of Bangor Office Manager and was again promoted in 2021 to Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

Evan joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. in 2007 as a Geotechnical Engineer, and was promoted to Senior Geotechnical Engineer in 2020, and Gray Office Manager in 2024. Evan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in Maine. He is a graduate of the Fundamentals of Professional Practice Course from the Geoprofessional Business Association. Evan is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Structural Engineers Association of Maine (SEAM). In 2007, Evan was inducted into the Francis Crowe Society at the University of Maine.

Office Manager – Somersworth, New Hampshire

Tyler started with the firm in 2011 as a laboratory and field technician. Following completion of this master’s degree at the University of New Hampshire, Tyler was hired as a Geotechnical Engineer. Tyler is now a licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont and a Project Geotechnical Engineer. He took on the role of Office Manager of our Somersworth office in 2020. He graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program in 2021.

Office Manager – Londonderry, NH and Riverside, RI

Andrew joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. in 1999 as a construction services technician with the firm in the field services and laboratory testing divisions. Andrew has worked in leadership positions at several locations and was promoted to Regional Branch Offices Manager in 2022. He joined the Board of Directors in 2023 and was promoted to Vice President of Construction Services in 2024. In this role, he provides training and support for regional managers and construction materials testing personnel in all of our offices. Andrew has over 25 years of experience working on various types of construction projects.

Construction Services Operations Manager

Scott is from Berwick, Maine. He attended the University of Maine, where he earned a B.A. in Public Administration. He joined S.W.COLE in 1999 as part of the team selected to grow the firm’s business in New Hampshire. Scott was one of our first New Hampshire employees and has been an integral part of the firm’s expansion in the Granite State. Based in Somersworth, New Hampshire, Scott was elected to the Board of Directors in 2018, and named the Construction Services Operations Manager in 2020. His responsibilities at S.W.COLE include contract development and negotiations, staff training, laboratory accreditation as well as project management. After 25 years of experience in the materials testing field, Scott considers himself a “jack of all trades” and enjoys the opportunity to work on projects of all types, including transportation, water and waste water, healthcare, education and municipal projects.

Senior Advisor

Roger was born in Bangor, Maine and holds an associate’s of science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine. He has over 30 years of experience including forensic concrete investigations, specialty testing and special inspections. He joined S.W.COLE in 1992, holding several leadership positions before being named Vice President of Construction Services in 2014. In 2024, he moved to a new position of Senior Advisor. In this role, he continues to provide guidance and leadership for our Construction Services team.

Johnathan joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. (S.W.COLE) in March 2024 as Assistant Construction Services Manager at our Gray, Maine location. He has since been promoted to Construction Services Manager. Prior to joining S.W.COLE, Johnathan had previous experience in project management, including supervising construction field technicians, and conducting observations and testing related to special inspections.

Alan Brown joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. in 2013 as the Construction Services Manager for the firm’s White River Junction office. Alan has more than 25 years of experience in field and laboratory inspection of construction materials. He is currently the Construction Services Manager and Office Manager at our White River Junction, Vermont location.

Construction Services Manager – Sidney, Maine

Brandon attended Central Maine Community College where he took coursework in electrical technology and building construction. He has about 12 years of experience, and holds multiple certifications in construction materials testing and special inspections. He graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program in 2022. Brandon began his career as a Construction Services Technician (CST) at S.W.COLE in June 2009, and since earned several promotions to a CST Grade III. In 2023 he was promoted to Assistant Construction Services Manager, and in 2024 to Construction Services Manager, at the S.W.COLE branch office in Sidney, Maine.

Baxter began his career as an Intern and worked as a Construction Services Technician at S.W.COLE in Maine.  He was promoted  to Construction Services Manager at the S.W.COLE Boylston, MA office. Baxter has a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Maine. He graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program in 2023.

Derek Mello is the Construction Services Manager at the Easton, Massachusetts office of S.W.COLE, working with clients on projects throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and eastern Connecticut. He joined  S.W.COLE in 2017 when Tibbetts Engineering Corp. was acquired. He has over 25 years experience with Construction Materials Testing. Derek graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program in 2022.

Chris joined S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. (S.W.COLE) in May 2011 as a Construction Services Technician. During his first eight years Chris gained experience performing materials testing and inspection on a
variety of construction projects including industrial, commercial, educational and public projects. Chris worked for the Maine DOT for one year before returning to S.W.COLE as an Assistant Construction Services Manager. He was promoted to Construction Services Manager in the Bangor S.W.COLE office in 2020. In 2021, Chris graduated from the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program.

Dakotah joined S.W. Cole in February 2019 as a Construction Services Technician at our White River Junction, Vermont office. He has a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts from Johnson State College (now part of Northern Vermont University). Dakotah has earned numerous industry certifications. He is a 2023 graduate of the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders Program.

Kaylie joined our team in June of 2020. She has previous experience in the service industry and has served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. Since joining S.W. Cole, she has earned multiple certifications in construction materials testing and special inspections. Since joining us as an entry-level Construction Services Technician (CST) Kaylie has been promoted to Construction Services Technician, Grade II. Kaylie is a 2023 graduate of the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders program. She was promoted to Assistant Construction Services Manager in 2024.

Luis joined the S.W.COLE team in 2022 during the acquisition of Geisser Engineering Corp. He has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Luis has many years of experience inspecting all phases of construction, such as soils, concrete and structural steel.

Vice President of Explorations

Eric Baron is the Vice President of Explorations for Seaboard Drilling, LLC (seaboarddrilling.com), a wholly-owned subsidiary of S.W. Cole Engineering, Inc. Originally formed as S.W.COLE Explorations with one rig in 2015, the new entity was established to provide test boring exploration services. The firm evolved with the acquisition of several drilling companies that we brought together from across New England, including Seaboard Drilling, Inc., Allstate Drilling, and Great Works Test Borings. In 2023 the firm was rebranded as Seaboard Drilling, LLC and is now headquartered in Bangor, Maine with branch offices in Chicopee, MA, Riverside, RI and Somersworth, NH.

Eric was born in Laconia, New Hampshire and raised in North Berwick, Maine. From a young age Eric was intrigued by construction sites, bridges and tall buildings, and it was this interest – and the urging from his high school math and science teachers – that led him to pursue a career in engineering. After graduating from Noble High School in North Berwick, Eric attended the University of Maine where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Jess works with our team as S.W.COLE’s Director of Health and Safety and is responsible for developing and implementing company Health and Safety programs and policies. Jessica is based at the Gray, Maine office when not visiting our other offices and job sites for S.W.COLE. She was formerly the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She previously served a similar role with Pioneer Plastics, a manufacturer in Auburn, Maine, and was an Office Safety Coordinator and Consultant with Parsons Corporation, an environmental and engineering consulting firm.

Jean joined our team in September 2023 as a Marketing Coordinator and was promoted to Marketing Manager in May 2024. She works with both S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. and Seaboard Drilling, LLC, from our Hermon, Maine location. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz and started her career as an art teacher. Before joining S.W.COLE, she had several years experience working in graphic design and marketing.
