Reel for a Cure
Are you an angler? How about reeling in fish on your favorite water any time during spring and summer to support cancer research and patient care. You’ll be making a difference with every fish you catch. This is a virtual fishing tournament.
Set up your fishing team (you, your boat, or usually fishing party) HERE by picking the paddle site and once there pick your registration option depending if you are starting a team or joining a team. Pick the bottom registration type, then enter the name of your team or enter registration info. If starting a team, please add “Fishing Team” to the name. Once you complete the registration process you can set up your participation center with your own story and pictures. You and your team then pledge to donate an amount (maybe $1 to $5) for each fish landed during the season starting as early as you wish but wrapping up on Labor Day.
You can post updates through the participation center as often as you wish and donate to fulfill your per fish pledge. This tournament is about raising funds for Cancer Research, but it is also a competition for avid anglers to post the most fish and more importantly the most money raised. Post pictures of your catch and team if you wish with your updates and check often to see how your team is comparing. You also have the option of mailing in donations and we can post those totals to your page under the scroll.
Your team members don’t have to all be anglers, they can be supporters by donating a fixed amount to your team, or by providing a per fish donation toward your team’s success.
Pledges of $1 or more per fish can generate a significant donation by season end.
Trophies, both virtual and physical will be awarded to the three teams posting the best season. Let’s go fishing and Reel for a Cure!
Steve, an avid (that word isn’t strong enough) fisherman started Reel for a Cure last summer in honor of Wendy, who passed away in February 2020. Steve raised $2500 in 2020 with the inaugural virtual fishing tournament benefiting Northern Light Health (CTC Challenge). He hopes to raise 10 times that in 2021.
